DEVON PARISH REGISTERS
The Devon Record Office at Exeter holds microfilmed/microfiched copies of
parish registers and Bishops Transcripts. Comparatively few appear to
have been transcribed, therefore only the microform registers for
places where family members are known to have lived have been
examined.

Sturti(e)vant
buried.

[Edmond was a linen draper from St.Margaret Moses, London; He was the Mr
Stertivant
of Devonshire involved in Chancery Proceedings in 1691 against
Christopher Devonshire of Minehead, Somerset;
There was a
memorial inscription to him in an old Exeter church in the 1960s, but
I have been to establish which one. It was not St.Paul's or St.
Pancras as their MIs are listed in Vol.II of a book on Exeter
churches in the Society of Genealogists. They do not have Vol.I]
ALSO
17 Apr 1626 Diocese of
Exeter, marriage licence issued to William Barter alias
Butcher of Crewkerne in Co.Somerset and Margaret
Sturtutt
of
Exeter.
[This could possibly be a misreading of our family name.
No trace of a marriage at Exeter All Hallows, St.Paul's or
St.Pancras. Need to check other Exeter churches, also Crewkerne.]
