Roger Sturdivant/Startivant, son of John, of Chipping, Lancashire, sailed for Virginia on 2.1.1634, aged 21, in the merchant bonaventure 'James Ricrofte' . He later went to Barbados. He married Dorothy and they had two sons, Roger and John Sturdivant.

WARE Thomas, proprietor. 31 August 1679, RB6/9, p.559. Friend John Hunter tailor, formerly of Barbados now in England - land bordering Alexander Anthony. Executors - George Hannay Sr, Gent & Mathew Wilcox; the wife of Edward Hurdinant ( Sturdivant ) - land next to George Fletcher , cooper etc. Proved 28 October 1679.
