Engine Maker B.J. Sturdevant, Boston, Ma. was one of America's finest engine
makers. This high quality ca. 1890 vertical steam engine has a single cylinder
of approx. 3" bore x 4" stroke, cylinder side-mounted valve chest with makers
name in raised cast letters, brass packing glands, original swing-lever top type
lubricators, bottle design frame with incorporated crosshead guides, single 16"
dia. x 3 ¼" flywheel, lower-frame inspection covers, frame-incorporated main
bearings, cast sub-base.
In what appears to be original grayish blue paint, the engine only
needs a good cleaning and oiling to be placed in operating condition.
Dimensions: Overall height 42 1/2", length over shaft 36", 2" dia.
crankshaft.
Estimated weight 200-300 lbs.
